Very Real Time is a performance-based contemporary art project which has been located in Cape Town, South Africa since 2003. Until recently the project has primarily taken the form of residencies focusing on the production of ephemeral projects and interaction between artists and the local communities in the city. Very Real Time is presently renewing its engagement with urban space, becoming primarily an educational project functioning simultaneously in Cape Town and Paris. The project focuses on the relationship between with the voice, the body and urban architecture. Performance, video and social media are used to enable new perceptions of personal narratives and they way in which these are inscribed in the urban history. Initial experiments are being carried out in Paris at present, and a pilot project is being prepared in the suburb of Atlantis, Cape Town for early 2019.  Further information...
